One of my Christmas presents was a shirt that reads, “Weekends Are For Waffles.” I agree, which is why I’m heading over the river for brunch with two lovely people, one of whom I have known literally half my life. Gluten-free breakfast food is in my immediate future, and that is always exciting.
What about you? What are you up to this weekend? You could do productive things, like empty your compost pail and clean the bathroom. Or you could pour yourself some tea and broswe my favorite things from this last week on the internet…

life, death, love, and working for a florist
dreaming about building one of my own
why grocery stores get it wrong
a harrowing afterlife
new year’s resolution: waste less
And, of course, to balance all the essays and articles:
short fiction for today
long fiction for tomorrow
